Blog #2 Character Analysis

Kathy and Zeitoun are both very family oriented people and care very much for each other and their kids. After Kathy evacuated from New Orleans she spends almost all of her time thinking of Zeitoun and worrying if he’s okay or not. “School wasn’t the first thing on Kathy’s mind. She had been determined, the night before and all morning, to convince her husband to leave the city.”(Eggers 166). She has been thinking about her husband day and night worrying if he is okay and if he will be able to survive the hurricane. Zeitoun is family oriented not only to his family but also to other families. In the first few days when he stays behind he tries to help any family he sees. “Each time Zeitoun asked if he could help, and occasionally they would ask for a bottle or two of water. He would hand them whatever he had.”(Eggers 166). Zeitoun would hand them whatever he has showing that he was willing to help whoever he needed and that he cares for other families.
